Dissection - Project Reflection
I chose to learn about a Shark during the dissection unit. I chose to study the anatomy of a shark because I was more interested in the anatomy of a cold blooded animal. I wanted to learn how their body and organs function as a cold blooded organism. I learned so much during observation and studies. I learned that a shark does not function on some of the basic organs that we use to survive with everyday. Sharks don't breath using lungs, the oxygenate their blood using gills. When water passes over the gills it runs over blood vessels, extracting the oxygen and releasing the carbon dioxide. What I learned about myself was that I can work through things that are hard to comprehend if I work my way through it. I can talk to my piers, research deeper, and talk to the teacher, each of those options leaves an endless possibility of solutions.
